Konami Digital Entetainment has released a new trailer for their upcoming fitness game, Step to the Beat on the Nintendo Wii.
Players will have to be continuously moving as they explore Rhythm Island whilst listening to a variety of licensed music tracks. Konami’s fitness game can be played using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk while walking on the spot, walking on a DanceDanceRevolution dance mat, or on a Wii Balance Board. By moving in a walking motion, you’ll have to keep in rhythm to the beat as you explore the island and accept specific challenges along the way.

Users begin by creating an avatar, and the game begins with the player simply keeping moving at all times. By doing so, users will then earn musical notes which allow them to add building, access new items, gain extra music tracks, or open up previously inaccessible parts of the island. Rhythm Island is a place of constant surprises, however, and returning at different points during the day, will reveal additional, unique elements.
The game will feature 120 different tracks that range from “Boom, Boom, Pow” from the The Black Eye Peas, to “La La Land” by Demi Lovato. This new fitness game aims to promote gentle aerobic exercise and players can even keep track of their physical activity as the game constantly monitors the distance you have travelled and the number of steps made. Items that you have picked up will also be tracked.
Step to the Beat is currently scheduled for release in March 2010 on the Nintendo Wii.
