The European release date for New Super Mario Bros. Wii has been confirmed.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be the first Mario platform game that features four-player simultaneous action. Following from the same style in New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS, the game will be a classic 2D platform game. Gamers can play alone or with up to three friends, each controlling Mario, Luigi, or one of the two Toads as they rescue Princess Peach from Bowser.

The game will be a mixture of cooperative and competitive play as gamers use their skills to battle it out for the best ranking. Save your friends from danger or throw them into it.

The game will utilise the motion controls of the Wii Remote, for example, players will come across a see-saw like platform that they can angle by tilting the Wii Remote to reach secret areas or to angle the beam of light from a lamp to light up dark areas.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii will include new features such as the propeller suit which allows your character to fly and hover by shaking the Wii Remote. As well as finding hidden areas, this suit can also be used to help your fellow players by picking them up and giving them a lift.

There’s also a new penguin suit which enables you to throw ice balls at your enemies, jump onto your belly and slide speedily across icy sections of the stage. There will be a variety of Yoshis to ride through the crazy levels on; as you use their tongues to swallow enemies, or even your friends.

This game will be the first Nintendo title to implement a dynamic help system; allowing gamers to access a mode to watch how a level is done if they become stuck. Gamers who choose to use this function can jump into the action they’re watching on screen at any time.

New Super Msrio Bros. Wii launches across Europe on 20th November 2009.
