Sega has announced details of upcoming Iron Man 2 for the Nintendo Wii and DS. Be sure to check out the trailer show at this year’s Comic-Con.

Matt Fraction (Eisner-nominated and Eagle-winning writer of creator-owned comics Casanova, Five Fists of Science, and Last of the Independents) will be involved in creating the game’s storyline; which will be an all-new narrative that includes familiar events from the movies and comic books.

Iron Man 2 will allow players to battle it out against enemies not featured in the films, such as Crimson Dynamo. The plot-line sees our protagonist, Tony Stark gifting the world with technology like the philanthropist that he is. Unfortunately, where there’s a good-guy, they’ll always be bad-guys and there will be many epic battles and huge enemies to overcome.

Matt Fraction, whose work at Marvel includes The Invincible Iron Man, The Uncanny X-Men, and The Immortal Iron Fist adds…

“Iron Man 2 presented me with the challenge and opportunity to work with both SEGA and Marvel on creating something wholly unique– a story that exists at the cross-roads of the comic I write, the film universe which I was lucky enough to be asked to contribute to, and a wholly- immersive interactive experience like a game…A game presents an entirely new challenge, where the audience/consumer/player engages with the world, with the big and small aspects of the place and characters.  They’re a co-conspirator in the narrative. I hope it’s as exciting and challenging to play as it was to write.”

The game will allow gamers to full advantage of the Iron Man suit as they battle through futuristic environments that offer a new level of destructibility. Each encounter with enemies will be “more exciting” and the experience intensified.

Iron Man 2 will feature new hand-to-hand combat styles such as Kung Fu. Motivated by feedback from fans, the developers have redesigned the control scheme which should make it more fun and accessible to gamers.

I just don’t get why he tries to be cool, slowly walking away from the explosion. First of all, the dude can fly, so why not do that? Second, you can’t look ultra cool with a facial expression like that. Even the smiley with sunglasses looks cooler.

I should stop? whining about little things. This might develop into something hopefully better than the first game, but only time will tell. That, or Comic Con panels.
