Remember when all you had to do was enter a 20 bit code to get to the end of a game and unlock everything? Well times have changed. Nintendo however, are trying to bring back that good piece of history.
Sources from Japan have stated that Nintendo is set out to release official (yep, that’s correct, official! Not hidden) cheat modes into its games. This is set out to help new gamers complete their games without getting so frustrated that they give up all together. Although this news has been shrugged by quite a few magazines and gamers out there, Nintendo are still going full steam with their plans.
Cheat modes will be there to help gamers to skip certain sections if they become stuck. This means that you will not get a chance to play that section, removing the chance to find out any special store information form that part. Nintendo have taken this decision to make only genuinely stuck players use it, rather than giving you immortality which could be used to play the whole game and still get some self achievement out of it.
The rumour at the moment is the the New Super Mario Bros on the Wii will be the first game to have said “cheat mode” built into the game.
How about this then Nintendo fans? What do you think to Nintendo’s decision to add an official cheat mode into games? Comments in the usual space below.

At E3 Miyamoto said the game’s going to have an option to let a developer-programmed/controlled character take over at points you really can’t pass, however you won’t get any unlockables, points, ect. for the said level.
