Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars reaches the land of The Rising Sun with a Z-rating from the Japanese classification board.

Rockstar’s game graced our DSes guns-blazing back in March, receiving an MA15+ rating from the BBFC. It had also received expected classifications from other countries. Japan, however, has different rules as their classification board officially labeled the Chinatown Wars “CERO-Z”, which is the equivalent to an “Adults Only 18+” rating.

This marks history as this is the first DS game in Japan to receive an “Adults Only” rating and second on a Nintendo platform after Killer 7 from Suda51. Chinatown Wars will be a real testament to how 18+ DS games perform in Japan.
