Resident Evil 5 on the Wii is possible, maybe.

Shout it out, there is still hope for a Wii version yet.

Shout it out, there is still hope for a Wii version yet.

When Capcom’s Chief Producer Masachika Kawata was asked if Resident Evil 5 would ever make it across to the Wii platform, he stated that it would be possible, just not graphically.

So we have all seen that over on the PS3 and Xbox 360, graphicly, Resident Evil 5 looks amazing and therefore a direct port over to the Wii platform would be a challenge. However when Capcom’s Masachika Kawata was asked about the possibility of it appearing on the console his first response stated that the Resident Evil 4 engine would work perfectly on a Wii, the graphical quality just couldn’t be matched. Well, state the obvious.

Instead, he says that there will probably be a spin off. If it does appear, it’ll look more like Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. This was of course until Capcom said that it might actually be possible after all, after being ’surprised’ by the graphical quality of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. So after all that, we find out yes, it would be possible, but whether they actually turn round and produce anything is another thing. Still, it’s always nice to know what could be coming in the future.

That’s a shame. I have Resident Evil 5 on the Xbox 360 and I went back to play RE4 on the GCN and I’m amazed on how well it holds up. It actually feels more dirty, dark and gritty compared to the newest outing. Its a lazy effort in my opinion.

Resident Evil 4 has got to be one of my favourite games of all time. I’m shocked at how many Gamecube owners I knew that never played it. Just thinking about it now takes me back to my student years, playing it with my mates; all cracking up every time the merchant appears. “Welcome, stranger.”
