Capcom has release the latest screenshots from the Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars game on the Nintendo Wii.

Fans of the beat ‘em up genre will be glad to know a fresh batch of screenshots from the upcoming fighting game has been released. Combining the best of Capcom’s 30 year history of characters and Japanese animation company, Tatsunoko’s wide range of franchises that span nearly 50 years; this latest in the “versus genre” is sure to please both sets of fans.

In the Capcom corner we have characters such as Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Mega Man Volnutt from Mega Man Legends, Morrigan from Darkstalkers, Batsu from Rival Schools, Viewiful Joe, PTX-40A from Lost Planet, Soki from Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, Roll from Mega Man, Alex from Street Fighter III; with more to be revealed.

In the Tatsunoko territory, we have representatives such as Ken the Eagle and Jun the Swan from the Science Ninja Team Gatchaman anime (a.k.a. Battle of the Planets or G-Force), comedic action hero Yatterman No. 1, Casshan the cybernetic warrior, Doronjo and Yatterman, Polymar, Karas, Ippatsuman and Gold Lightan; plus more to be announced. All in all, there will be over 20 characters to choose from in order to form the tag-team combination that works for you.

Gameplay will contain elements from Capcom classics like the Street Fighter games and previous installments in the Versus series.

Players choose from the combined roster of fighters to create their favorite two man/woman/cyborg/robot tag team, rotating on the fly between the two players throughout the course of each match. Those new to the genre will appreciate the game’s bright visual style and simplified four-button fighting controls. Hardcore Capcom fighting fans will dig in to the game’s depth, uncovering huge Aerial Rave combos and unique Variable Assists, gorgeous Hyper Combos, and Variable Combinations that combine the capabilities of two members of the player’s tag-team to unleash huge damage.

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is the new version of the game that was released in Japan in 2008 in the arcades and on the Wii platform. Capcom have announced that they are “looking into” the possibilities of adding additional characters from both their own and Tatsunoko series.

Even more pleasing to the ear is that they’re “exploring the option of online gameplay” which should satisfy a lot of people as online modes seem to offer more replay value across most genres.

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars will also support a number of different control devices, including the wii-mote (obviously) and nunchuk, Classic Controller, Gamecube Controller, and various third-party joysticks designed for the Nintendo Wii.

Here’s a list of features that will be in the game, from the press release….

  • Two-man tag team action: Players build their own perfect team and use Assist Attacks and each character’s special moves to create their own unique fighting style.
  • Four button fighting controls: Easy-to-understand four button control scheme opens gameplay up to new players with familiar movements and combos.
  • Depth of gameplay: Once the basics are mastered, players can go deeper into the fighting game controls to master Aerial Rave air combos, Delayed Hyper Combos, Mega Crash defensive moves, Assault attack moves and the Baroque extended combo system.
  • Fast-paced action and huge attacks: Each characters has a unique arsenal of moves, including spectacular Hyper Combos that literally take over the screen with devastating results.
  • 3D characters, 2D fighting gameplay: As in Street Fighter IV, TATSUNOKO VS. CAPCOM ULTIMATE ALL-STARS has bright, 3D rendered characters battling it out in familiar 2D style.
