Let’s Tap [Wii] Preview and Screenshots

Let’s Tap is the highly anticipated Wii game that allows players to literally tap to control the game. It is developed by Prope and will be published by Sega for the Wii console. I was lucky enough to see this in action and have a play.

There are 5 mini games within Let’s Tap that require the Wii remote to be placed face down on the provided box, and then the box to be tapped with your fingers. I was assured that there will be a better looking box to use by the time the game is released later this year.

The idea is a great one, and this translates to the game play too. This novel way of game controlling is both fun and addictive, and would provide hours of fun, especially on occasions where many people are together.

I tested two of the mini games: Tap Runner and Rhythm Tap. Tap Runner requires you to control your character by tapping on the box, and making him run over blocks and tightropes, and jumping over obstacles. A light tap runs, a lighter tap walks the tightrope and a short sharp tap will jump. Once you have mastered the controls you realise how clever this equipment is, and that it has potential to develop further into other mini-games.

The Rhythm Tap game is a similar concept to games such as Guitar Hero, where players have to tap at a given time to create the beat. There are different levels of tapping required here too, which makes sure that the game does not get repetitive, and there is some skill required.

Other games are Silent Blocks, Bubble Voyager and Visualizer, but I did not have the opportunity to test these, but did see others testing them out, and they seemed to be having as much fun as I did on the other mini games.

Overall, Let’s Tap is very promising. It would seem to appeal to a wide range of people, and could provide hours of fun! The idea of tapping to control the game is a new one, and it certainly seems as though it will work as well as first hoped in impressing Wii owners.
