Robert Kotick, Chairman & CEO at Activision Blizzard has revealed that the much rumoured DJ Hero does actually exist and is scheduled for a 2009 release.
Speaking about the company’s financial situation in the current state of the economy, he talks briefly about the concept of this new “product”.
“We have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year; which is a turntable that you actually can play competitively and spin discs and mix songs, so, you’re definitely seeing physical interface starting to have a real impact on the consumer…you’re definitely seeing lots of innovations and continue to see lots of innovations that’s adding audiences.”
There’s no information on which platforms DJ Hero will be developed for, as of yet. But if Guitar Hero is anything to go by, I’m guessing all of them. Since last year, there’s been an alleged quote from a Tiesto newsletter which “confirms” the Dutch DJ will be involved with the title. This lead to speculation on whether he will contribute tracks to the game of if he will get his own add-on pack, much like Aerosmith and Metallica. Show me the newsletter and I’ll believe it. Until then, I’d much rather take the word of Tiesto’s agent who supposedly confirmed that the quote from the newsletter was made up. Still, hasn’t stopped numerous websites jumping on it though.

- Admits to not playing video games. Not because he doesn’t like them, no, because he’s afraid he’ll play them too much. I don’t play tennis because I’m rubbish. At least I man up to it.
– Refers to title as “product”.
Ah, can you feel the love?
