Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars gets rated an 18

BBFC ratingsLast weekend, the British Board of Film Classification announced that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be rated an 18.

I suppose it would have been odd if a GTA game got released that wasn’t an 18, or an M which is the equivalent.

On the BBFC’s website, it says…

“Contains very strong language and drug references”

Fair enough, but I thought it was strange that there was no mention of violence. Surely a game where you get to kill people using a large arsenal of weapons needs to be stated as such. Maybe “violence” in video games has sort of become the norm….whether it’s overt or covertly implemented. Just an observation.

Fans looking forward to this exclusive DS title will be glad to hear that the classification of this game has been passed with no cuts made to the content. This is certainly good news considering what happened to Manhunt 2, also from Rockstar Games.

The BBFC also revealed that the game will feature about 2 hours of cut-scenes and approximately an hour of game-play footage.
