It seems like Capcom’s gamble has paid off! Mega Man 9, the title so anticipated a copy of WiiFit is jealous, managed to sell 600,000 copies (or downloads) in the first day on WiiWare in the US.

While this is staggering news by itself, its also good to know that Mega Man 9 has already surpassed the total number of WiiWare downloads of any other game since launch, its even beaten them if you add them together. Now if that isn’t success i don’t know what is.

While the title is doing insanely well in the US and Nintendo fans and retro gamers alike are shouting about its greatness, we in Europe still have to wait, hoping that this Friday it might pop up on our Shopping Channel also. The game has truly swung the gate open on retro revival and i hope we see some other publishers taking a similar route in the future.
