I get quite excited when I see new Nintendo themes creations, just before I get a giant feeling of total jealousy of the creators talents (and normally their seemly infinite supply of money!).
Keith Brogan is one of those guys who is officially on my list of people I’d like to become friends with, and hopefully I’d become his best friend and he would feel that, being the Nintendo fan that I am, the Lego Mario model he has made would be the best xmas present for me.
On a technical level, he used something called a NextEngine 3D scanner to create a virtual 3D model of Mario on his computer, then edited it to be all pixelated (and hence all Lego-like), before digging out all of his old Lego blocks from his childhood and building one of the best Mario models I’ve seen (and I’ve seen at least 3). If you want a sneak peek at the full process, then check out the link below, and if it inspires you to create your own Lego Nintendo models, don’t forget to send us a picture so I can drewl at your handwork!
My hat is off to you Mr. Brogan!
