Cursed Mountain is a unique project by developer Deep Silver in which Wii players are taken back to the 1980s in a survival horror-esque adventure.
You play the role of a brave mountaineer who embarks on a journey to find his lost brother. This is no ordinary stroll in the park as his quest leads him up and deep into the Himalayan Mountains. During the climb he encounters an ancient curse: the souls of the people who died - mountaineers, villagers, monks etc. The question is bluntly put, is his brother still alive?
Amongst the developers lofty promises are “visuals and breathtaking views” with gesture based combat and Wii Remote exploration to scan the surrounding environment.
Hannes Seifert, MD at Deep Silver Development also had this to say -
“With a fresh setting, gloomy atmosphere and the innovative use of the Wii controls, Cursed Mountain will deliver a unique, terrifying game play experience. Deep Silver is confident that Cursed Mountain will help to further establish our international presence, and help expand the survival horror game genre on the Wii platform.”
This kind of game may to some extent satisfy the grumblings of (myself included) the hardcore sect of the gaming community and their concerns that Nintendo did not have their best interests at heart. Hopefully this is a sign that we will see many more games being released of the same ilk as Cursed Mountain.
