When Nintendo announced its latest add-on ‘MotionPlus’ for the Wii Console it came as quite a surprise for many a gamer yet as we found out recently, the surprise was not restricted to just to the consumer, in fact many third party members within the industry were equally unexpected.
The announcement was made during Nintendo’s opening presentation at the famed E3 convention. As millions of gamers and press alike, flocked to seek out the latest innovations and plans of the gaming world’s juggernauts, MotionPlus truly was an pleasant and most unexpected feature of the show.
The plugin, is an advancement for motion control to be used with the remote. It is due to arrive in a bundle pack combined with Wii Sports follow up, Wii Sports Resort. It will offer increased precision and more accurate motion detection and mapping. This is something that many gamers felt should have been incorporated into the console’s original release back in 2007 within the UK.
However…
Although doubtless exciting, apparently some third-party games developers have received this news with irritation, annoyance and even a sense of betrayal. The developers it seems, were left in the dark about this new peripheral and that - Wii Sports excluded - it could take up to 9 months before independent developers can release titles that would incorporate the MotionPlus’s capabilities. Thus they argue, that games currently in development which are heavily underway may suffer as a result. Developers say the games touted for release in the near future may look sluggish and inaccurate in comparison as MotionPlus abled titles are released.

Nintendo really should of told developers about this before E3.
