Nintendo Announced yesterday the release of Animal Crossings on the Wii, slated for the end of 2008. Dubbed Animal Crossings: City Folk, the game builds on the DS version creating a larger environment and a new city to visit with shops and an auction house
City Folk will also use the new Nintendo Wii Speak device to allow friends to chat while they play, but its unclear if voice messages or any other voice functions will be enabled in the game so far. While Nintendo showed a few minutes of demo footage, they didn’t give much in the way of features or elements of the new game and the trailer unfortunately looked painfully similar to the DS version released a few years ago.
While many a Nintendo fan may be underwelmed by the announcement WiiDS.co.uk is still looking forward to when we can bring you more information for the game including price, features and a solid release date.
UPDATE! Seems there is indeed a release date of November 16, but right now thats unclear if it’s US, Euro or Japan.

This is one of the, very few, great Nintendo games to be shown. Despite the fact it looks too much like the Gamecube game, I’m picking this one up anyway. Just because…well…IT’S ANIMAL CROSSING!
