Those who missed the boat of downloadable content on Guitar Hero III for Wii have something to get excited about because publisher Activision announced that the Wii version of Guitar Hero: World Tour will also include support for DLC as would the PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360.
It wasn’t specified whether or not players will be able to download new songs onto the software or whether they can share user-made tracks, all of which are included on the other now-generation consoles. It has also made some of us skeptical on what means Activision and RedOctane will take to actually include DLC on the Wii version, seeing that developers have had trouble with the Wii’s internal storage space of 512 mb.
So how do you folks propose they do this?

It’s about time those USB ports on the back became useful, time for a firmware update that let’s it support USB hard disks, then roll on real DLC

No one mentioned that the USB ports would be used, though it would be nice if feasible. Look at Rockband, the DLC for the Wii/PS2 version have resorted to packaging songs on discs. Who knows if GHIV will do the same. Remember, storage space is still a factor.

I never said the article mentioned it, but it’s the logical way to do it if/when they ever realise they need more Space, SD cards are too slow for such things, which leaves only 2 real options, ninty releasing some stupidly overpriced add on that works over a wireless signal and doesn’t touch the USB, or a standard (but ninty branded) hard drive.
Of course I’m all for options B because unless they do something stupid we can all pick up an external USB drive for peanuts.

Well, we can both agree that SD cards are unreliable in the case of DLC because we cannot play content directly off them.
I really don’t know what Activision, Neversoft and the Big N have in mind. I’m hoping, for everyone’s sake, that Nintendo doesn’t bring up the Ipod analogy as an excuse for not adding in external memory to the Wii. We’ll have to wait!
