Square Enix Brings Survival Horror to DS

Its seems like a breath of fresh air when a developer/publisher strays away from their traditional line of software and it seems like Square Enix has gone that route. Famitsu just got the latest word on their upcoming DS game called Nanashi no Game, and it’ll steal your life away!

Well sort of. In Nanashi no Game, you take the role of someone who’s friend has disappeared mysteriously who had just taken delivery of a 2D classic rpg game. It apparently (meaning the game in the game) is bounded with a curse and whoever plays it will die in a week (think of the Japanese horror film, Ringu). You find the game in his house and investigate the horrors within.

Nanashi no Game plays from the first person perspective (all actions are performed with the stylus) with the DS being held on its side (like Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword) with 3D graphics filling both screens. Also, the game will take advantage of the hardware’s capabilities to emit 3D sound out of both speakers, so you’ll being hearing sounds from all directions including….from behind!

Japan will be able to live the horror when the game releases on June 3rd, no international release date has been spoken of.
