Nintendo, once again, is hosting their annual media summit in San Francisco, California and have revealed plans for Mario Super Slugger, the next generation Nintendo baseball game for the Wii.

As of other Mario-themed sports games, Super Sluggers takes the cast and elements of the red plumber’s universe onto the baseball field, providing for a simple and casual sporting experience. Much of the easy controls founded in Wii Sports can provide background exposure to the easy-to-learn controls in this upcoming baseball game. There is lots of innovation, imagination and colorful characters behind Super Sluggers and you’ll be able to experience all this when the game releases later this year.

“Mario is truly a one-of-a-king character; clearly fans can’t get enough of him and his friends,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him while expanding our series of active-play games.”
