If any American has set money for import orders of Mario Kart Wii, we suggest you cancel those since the Freeloader software will not work with the upcoming racer when it hits European store shelves this week.
Online import retailer Play-Asia got the message out when they tested the software with the game and this was their response:
This is an important e-mail update regarding your pending preorder Mario Kart Wii (w/ Wii Handle) (Nintendo™ Wii Japan, NTSC J)
We received the first small delivery today for testing and unfortunately we have to inform you, that the game is not compatible with the Datel Freeloader (US and PAL Version).
Many are speculating if this was the work of Nintendo, a company with a reputation to dislike importing. Whether that is true or not, Americans will just have to wait till April 27th when the game releases in North American retailers.

Well Technically we only have to wait 2 more days . . . not much point in importing . . .

@Kaasutii:
Very true, but it kinda sucks that the Freeloader doesn’t exactly do what it’s supposed to.

Hardily a surprise.
Wouldn’t be at all shocked if the next firmware stops the freeloader working period.
