Seemingly one of the worst kept secrets, Sonic Unleashed has finally been revealed after numerous leaks of video and screenshots. But before, we didn’t know what platforms the game would exist on, now, Sega has announced that Sonic’s latest outing will appear on the Wii.

The story doesn’t stray away too far from the core elements of the franchise; Dr. Eggman has ripped apart the world and Sonic has to piece it back together by retrieving the power of the chaos emeralds. The trailer we saw had given us a insight on what we can expect, seeing the gameplay makes switches between 2D and 3D platforming. The latter has often met with complaint in the previous game (not Sonic and the Secret Rings) because of how clunky and slow the gameplay was, so it looks like Sega is addressing the issue.

Expect a worldwide release at the end of 2008.
