Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Info Revealed

NeoGaf recently got the lowdown on Kingdom Heart’s future portable iteration for the Nintendo DS. What can we expect from this upcoming prequel, officially dubbed 358/2 Days?

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days puts players in the shoes of Roxas and his introduction to Organization XIII to his fatal duel with Rikku (this is why we are assuming this is a prequel). This game is said to answer the many concerns fans of the series have asked such as such as Roxas’ relation to Organization XIII, Mickey’s activities and the 14th Nobody. In the single player mode, Roxas will be fighting off the Heartless in sundry environments before returning to Illusiopolis. The game has made changes to the normal menu and combat system, including jumping, gliding and defending, with customizations and level-up systems providing for a non-linear experience.

Something featured in this game that wasn’t found in its predecessors was a multiplayer component. 358/2 Days includes one, letting players control members of the Organization XIII in missions with various objectives. The missions themselves will be independent from the main plot, featuring characters with different strengths and weaknesses. What else…the touchscreen will include a map (though no touch controls will be used) and chatting capabilities.

358/2 Days boasts a group of talented folks to work on the game, including people from Studio Hand (Chocobo Tales), co-director Tomohiro Hasegawa (Final Fantasy 8 and Kingdom Hearts), writer Daisuke Watanabe and music talents Yoko Shimomura and Tetsuya Nomura (Final Fantasy Versus XIII). Because of the story and lack of new locales, only a few new tracks will be added as the game will recycle much of which we heard in previous games.
