Nintendo of America is pleased to announced that its fighting game phenomenon, Super Smash Bros Brawl, has sold 1.4 million copies since its release on March 9, 2008. The sales figures saw that the game sold 874,000 on the launch day with a rate of 120 units selling per minute. Quite an impressive feat!
“Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Game reviewers and the public alike praise its fun game play and extensive, inventive content.”
Super Smash Brawl is the sequel to the Super Smash Melee on the Gamecube which sold 7 million copies worldwide. Can this new Wii iteration top that number? We won’t know unless you run to the store and pick up a copy for your own (sorry Europe and Australia).
