Joining up with the rest of the consoles featured in the Virtual Console, Sega has announced that the Master System will join the fray on Nintendo’s classic downloadable game channel.
Sega is currently distributing titles for its 16-bit console, the Sega Genesis. The Master System, which was introduced back in 1986, is their 8-bit system that launch them in a competitive level to the original Nintendo which also released around the same time.
The announcement of Sega’s Master System also included the distribution of titles for the Mark III and Game Gear. The first Master System titles that’ll appear on the Japanese Virtual Console in February are First of the North Star (600 points) and Fantasy Zone (500 points).
Sega also plans on bringing over the Master System titles to European and North American shores, though those details haven’t been uncovered yet.
