Japanese website Ruliweb has gotten the lowdown on Nintendo’s upcoming musical sensation, Wii Music. While the game hasn’t been in tune in regards to information, we have finally received some sheet music for concrete details.
In Wii Music, gameplay is based around “Play Sessions”. Also, your group (or band, whatever you want as reference) will be made up of six parts, where up to four players can join up, while the others will be played by the CPU. A variety of songs will come from Nintendo’s internal sound team, including old BGMs to brand new ones.
The game includes over 40 available instruments such as folk guitars, base guitars, trumpets, maracass, marimbas, etc. Players can even take the position of the conductor! Interestingly enough, each instruments will have their own unique control scheme. For example, the trumpet will make strong sounds if you keep the Wii remote at a high angle and weak sound at a low angle. Drums are played with two Wii remotes and guitars will have the C button act as your pick. You can play both cords and single sounds!
Wii Music will be readily available in 2008, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced.

I wonder if they’ll add extra songs to the Wii shop. If so, put me down for any Butthole Surfers and Dead Kennedys.
However, if content is restricted to Nintendo’s own music and classical music that has expired copyright I think I’ll pass on ‘Wii Muzak’.
