No More Heroes is nearing its North American (January 22nd) and European release date (February 29th), and apparently there has been chatting on contemplating a sequel already!
Gamespot recently caught up with the creator, Grasshopper Manufacturer’s Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51), to discuss the game, and this comment popped out:
When asked what games he was working on right now, he laughed, “It’s a secret!” Then he confessed, “Actually, I’m really willing to make a sequel version–and right now I’m asking if it can be made…I think No More Heroes is a great game, there’s no other action game like it for the Wii. If it was a band, it would be really energetic, like the Arctic Monkeys.”
Also, Suda 51 responded to a question that has probably stirred our minds for quite some time; why was Europe’s No More Heroes censored like the Japanese version whereas the Americans get the gorier uncut game?
He said, “In the European and Japanese versions, there’s more of an action style to the game. For instance, when you kill characters in this version of the game, the coins come out straight away… And the American market has more of a predilection to a more violent version. I don’t want anyone to misunderstand–neither version is better. I love both versions.”
No More Heroes is Grasshopper Manufacturer’s latest punk-styled game, putting players in the shoes of Travis Touchdown, a nerd (at least that is what I would classify him as) who must track down and kill 10 of the top assassins. Armed with a beam katana, he’ll slice, dice and occasionally muse erotic thoughts in order to complete this dangerous goal.
