Review

This game is the true sequel of Super Mario Bros. remaining unreleased outside of Japan until a remake appeared on Super Mario All Stars. We now have a chance to play the original make of the game.

It looks quite like the original Super Mario Bros., there are a few graphical changes, such as a few background designs. When there are a lot of enemies on the screen, I have noticed some minor graphical lag, where the sprites begin to flicker. Otherwise it moves pretty smoothly.

Most of the music comes straight from the original as well, and including most of the other sounds too. Though, when a poison mushroom is abound, then the music sounds slightly off kilter.

Like the rest of the game, it is quite like Super Mario Bros. in gameplay as well. However, the gameplay has been expanded on a bit. For starters, bouncing off enemies for a longer jump made its debut, or super spring-boards that launch you past the top of the screen. Both of which are used in jumps to often reach a platform that usually has yet to be in the screen. Add a few others like gusting wind, flying sea-creatures and looping castles, you are in for a full challenge.

The game is pretty hard, but a classic definitely worth a try at 600 points.

Unfortunately this game has been retired and those who have not already purchased this game are unable to download it at this time.
