DS-x2 just got the latest on the Nintendo DS version of Assassin’s Creed, which has been a mystery since we first saw the listing of the game online. Officially called Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles, this isn’t a port of the Playstation 3/Xbox 360 game, but rather, a new game altogether.
As the context of the title clearly states, Altair’s Chronicles is a prequel, dating back to the year 1191 during the time of the Third Crusade. Altair is on an adventure in the Middle East to search for the holy chalice used in the last supper; this particular artifact holds great power that can ultimately determine the outcome of the bloody crusades. He must steal the chalice before it falls in the wrong hands, following terrible ramifications.
Features:
- Play the assassin and use its acrobatic abilities to your advantage in combos during sword fights
- 11 weapons for close and long-distance battle: 5 types of swords, daggers, bombs and hooks
- Aside from the merciless sword fights and powerful combos, players can also eliminate their opponents using stealth tactics
- Run, jump and climb through 4 historical, completely 3D-rendered, cities: Damascus, Akkon, Jerusalem and Masyaf. Each with their own unique look and feel
- Use the stylus to interrogate informers and pickpocket precious items from the crowd
Will Altair successfully complete his quest to find the holy chalice? Stay tuned and we’ll find out!
