If you like to challenge yourself with letters and knowledge, check this out; video game developer Pixel Magick is bringing Wordsnake to the WiiWare and Nintendo DS. DS-x2 got the lowdown:
Each new word is placed on the board from an existing letter tile, forming snake like structures, which means the words must begin or end with the existing letter. Each level starts with a randomly changing letter tile that the player has to select to give the best chance of forming words. This tile becomes the base tile and remains on the board for the whole level. Subsequent tiles will disappear after a set time, which means the player must form new words to keep the snake alive. Invalid words will reduce the players score, but will have to be played sometimes to get rid of difficult letters. Special tiles let the player gain extra lives, decrease remaining level time or increase remaining level time. The player can also randomly shuffle their letters and move letters to a second tile rack to help with word construction.
Expect to unravel this snake in early 2008.
