Publisher Square Enix Ltd. has just announced that The World Ends with You (localization name for It’s a Wonderful World) is heading to European shores exclusively on the Nintendo DS in Spring 2008.
The story revolves around Neku who wakes up confused and disorientated in Shibuya, Tokyo. Through a cell phone message, he is quickly informed of his future nonexistence if he doesn’t complete a certain mission. So what will Neku seek in his vigorous and zany adventure?

The World Ends With You is very unique as players get to experience the gritty extravagant urban lifestyle of modern day Tokyo. Neku will be able to meet a cast of colorful and distinctive characters each with their own music, clothing and culture preference. The game may end up as a complete culture shock to some gamers because of the style and amazing audio soundtrack ranging from hip-hop to metal rock. The World Ends with You is indeed an action RPG, but the message lies between the main subject matter of friendship, hope and overcoming challenges, creatively told through a modern edge.
Aside from the main story mode, this upbeat Japanese sensation includes multiplayer involving mini-games and the ability to trade items. You can also share data with fellow game users you bump into in the real world through Chance Encounter mode.
John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, “Square Enix has traditionally been associated with RPG’s set in fantasy lands, but THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU is our first ever game to be set in modern times and real-life locations. The use of the Nintendo DS functionality is second to none. We believe gamers of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy all that THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU has to offer.”
Expect to live a wonderful life when The World Ends With You releases in Europe in Spring 2008.
