I can assume that most of us agree that the next (or perhaps now) generation consoles are priced well enough for the general consumer, right?
Well the Activision Chief Executive Bobby Kotick begs to differ as he has come out and stated that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo should drop their prices on the consoles to $199 within the next two years to appeal to the mass market. He also credits the Wii especially because it sets a fine standard in pricing despite the lesser hardware.
“Some of our competitors are doing a lot more talking about how they’re organized than innovating for the Wii and if (publishers) are going to be successful they are going to have to step up to the level of innovation that Nintendo has proven themselves capable of.”
He stated “In the next 24 months they all will need to be at that $199 price point,” talking about the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.
Gamers and ordinary people alike have to decide to agree with Kotick’s point: Do we care more for pricing or the technology itself? Its up to you!
