Video game publication Game Informer has just got heads up information on the upcoming Ghostbusters game for the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Because Ghostbusters for the next generation consoles is an original title, its safe to conclude that it’s not a rehash of the first two. The storyline will be the same on all three platforms (which hasn’t been informed yet) and the game will retain cartoonish visuals. And to encourage playability with other gamers, Ghostbusters will contain a single-player campaign which can also be enjoyed by three other friends cooperatively (split-screen). As a member of the elite and quirky squad, you’ll have to be careful when fending off against the ghosts as their scares depletes the Ghostbusters’ health meter temporarily. You won’t be helpless as each member holds their own special abilities (Ray can spot ghosts appearing through walls).

WiiDS will cover Ghostbusters until it’s release in Halloween 2008.
