D3Publisher of Europe has announced that it has made a worldwide publishing agreement with Aardman Animations to create a series of video games based on their popular Shaun the Sheep character.
‘This agreement with Aardman Animation is a significant milestone for D3Publisher of Europe,’ commented David Hope, Managing Director of D3P Europe. ‘Shaun the Sheep is a significant global property and will be a key title for us in 2008 and beyond. We are very pleased to be working with such an innovative partner as Aardman Animations, and will deliver a fun gaming experience that expands on the adorable star of the popular children’s TV show.’
Shaun the Sheep originated in Aardman Animations’ previous television show, Wallance and Gromit back in 1995. He started to star in his own original show back in March 2007 and involves a combination of slapstick and classic silent comedy. The show airs in over 145 different countries and the 40 episode television series will be featured in D3Publisher’s games with the first releasing on the Nintendo DS in Q4 2008.
While the series of games will spawn on other major consoles, Nintendo DS owners will be treated with the first game next holiday season.
