Ryu Hyabusa must avenge his father and find the two demon statues to prevent an ancient demon of destruction from reappearing.
Looks pretty solid. However, enemies suddenly appearing from nowhere does bring it down a notch, especially when they just suddenly pop onto the screen, right in front of where you were going to jump. Enemies look pretty good, and are easily recognizeable thanks in part to the good palette it has.
For an old NES game, it does well on the music, fast paced and pleasant. I must compliment Tecmo on this. Their sound effects are good to, rather than making monotoned beeps, they gave us some nice swishing effects instead, except of course for pausing the game, making this game pleasant on the ears.
It plays a lot like Castlevania. You get a standard attack, plus a speciall attack. This game allows for a little bit more impressive arial maneuvers, due to the heighth of jumps and jumping off of the side of walls. However, the wall jumps are a bit cumbersome to perform since detaching from the wall sometimes simply does not happen. Other than that, the game is pretty solid, difficult yes, but you get infinite continues for your troubles.
The game is quite difficult, and punishing, though it is indeed worth getting for a mere 500 points.
