The History Channel Pocket History Catagorizes the DS

The History Channel and Slitherine Strategies has announced The History Channel: Pocket History for the Nintendo DS. The series of titles included in the software will give an insight into our past in an inventive and creative matter.

“We are very pleased to join forces with Slitherine for THE HISTORY CHANNEL Pocket History series, the second product line we have developed together,” added Carrie Trimmer, Director of Licensing at A&E Television Networks, parent company of The History Channel. “Following the success of THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles console series, we wanted to design a game specifically for the Nintendo DS that would take advantage of its unique features, especially its portability. We think gamers will respond favorably to this new series.”

The first lineup of the many historical titles is The History Channel Pocket History: Rome which puts players in control of a Roman Empire and all the micromanagement required. Through conflict, economic, political and social growth, the Empire must live up to normal standards as the player must consider the importance of control, governing and exploiting buildings, resources and more. We can expect to see this game in April 2008.
