The galactic bounty hunter, Samus, begins her adventures in this classic game.

It is comparable to Kid Icarus in graphics. For the most part, you’ll have a dark monocolor background. The basic design however makes it difficult to navigate the game without knowing your way around. The designs of the enemies are also very alien yet organic, mimicked in later games.

Metroid was quite ahead of its time, while the title screen’s music may be a bit harsh, you only have to be there for 10 seconds, before enjoying the great music of the game. Sound effects are pretty good, but at 15 health, and annoying beeping sound can be heard. Since you start off with only 30, you’ll be hearing it a bit, unless you’re good at this game.

Metroid completely shook the shooter genre. Rather than simply going through stages, left to right, blasting everything in your path, the player will find themselves going up, down and around. Even going back to previous places after getting a power up to unlock unseen paths. Since there was little to compare this to, and none in the genre, the game was groundbreaking. While the original NES had but a password system, our VC counterpart will allow the player to stop and pick up at will, along side the password system.

Nostalgia or New Adventure, this game will rock your socks and definitely worth the getting.
