I don’t normally post about the news posted over on the Smash Bros. DOJO!! website as I’m sure most of you hit it regularly anyway, but this news is rather special.
Today Nintendo have confirmed that Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Wii edition of the great frantic fighting franchise, will support online play, but not just any online play.. worldwide online play!
They have also confirmed some details about how it is going to work ingame:
“There are two primary connection methods. The names of these methods are “With Friends” and “With Anyone”. The menus and structures of each method are pretty different.”
The With Friends option enables a feature known as taunting, which is a very basic message system setup before the battle and accessed via the control pad on the Wii Remote. It also appears that these battles will be logged, so you will be able to see each others battle statistics.
The With Anyone option is simply a free-for-all battle to the death. Taunting messages are disabled, and this mode is not logged.
This is truly great news for any fans of the previous games who will already know that Smash Bros. multi-player is great fun, and now with the confirmed online battles, a lot of fanboys can now breath a sigh of relief!
