AOL announced that’ll update it’s proprietary media player focusing on it’s rivalry with the popular Apple Itunes. Winamp 5.5 10th Anniversary Edition will be due out on October 10th containing new features such as accessible interfaces and playlist options. More interesting, is the ability to stream music off your Nintendo Wii by visiting the official website to login.
The Winamp Remote feature allows you to stream the music and videos on your home computer to any other computer, a Nintendo Wii, or a cellphone, simply by leaving your home computer on and logging in to winamp.com/remote (iTunes, on the other hand, only lets you stream to computers on your local network). I demoed Winamp Remote on a Wii and found it ran smoothly, with an easy-to-learn interface.
