Volleyball was developed by Nintendo for the NES back in 1986. If you become frustrated with the first two minutes of this game, then you’ve thrown this purchase in the sand.

This game is your basic volleyball simulation, pitting you against teams from all over the globe from South Korea to the Soviet Union. Teams consists of six players on each side of the net, and the goal is to score points by dropping the ball on the floor on their side of the court. Volleyball becomes quirky because you’ll be controlling more than one player at a time, since each player can’t hit the ball more than once in a volley.

To be brutally honest, Volleyball for the NES is much more difficult than the real-life experience. When the opponents hit the ball to your side, you are never sure where it’ll land. The shadow of the ball appears at the last minute, and you’d never expect it. Accuracy is another key point. If you aren’t directly under the ball, you’ll most likely miss it. And to add more troubles to the player, controlling more than one person at a time is frustrating and mind-numbing.

Volleyball is a nice concept, but it has never been done correctly, even for a game that is over 20 years old. If you can ignore all the twitches and quirky problems, which is difficult, this might be your game.

Overall Score: 5/10
