Big Brain Academy For Wii

Big Brain Academy For Wii is the sequel to the ever popular Big Brain academy for the DS. The idea of the series is to make your brain mass bigger by practicing the mini games and, when your ready, re-testing and hoping you’ll get a better score than last time.

Graphics
Big Brain Academy has OK good graphics even though the whole game is 2 dimensional it still looks reasonably good, one complaint would be the Mii integration which to be honest isn‘t very good at all, they should of just kept it like the DS version or just left Mii‘s how they were.

Sound
The sound quality overall is good, but it’s the same old classical type music that really gets on your nerves. The voices when you pint at a section are squeaky and annoying. The remote coach is a good idea but it just repeats itself which, is also annoying.

Controls
The controls don’t really make use of the Wii Remotes capabilities but their easy to get used too. It can be difficult for first timers but that’s just the pointing control in general.

Mini-Games
All of the mini games in Big Brain Academy For Wii are totally new, none have been ported from the DS version and most are of a good fun quality. There’s always a few which are just boring and you play for the sake of playing.

Other
The results page can get annoying since you get it at the end of every mini game, and there’s usually lots of text to work your way through, its fine for your first few tries but it just gets repetitive after that. You can also send your data to friends so they can play against it in “Mind Sprint” mode.

Highs & Lows

High points:

  • Multiplayer options are really good.
  • All mini games are new.

Low points:

  • Graphics could be better.
  • Mii integration is terrible.
  • Single player lacks longevity.
  • Too easy to get medals.

How it could be made better
Big Brain Academy would benefit a lot if it was harder to get medals in single player mode giving you more of a motive to go back and try again. More use of the Wii Remote would be excellent and better Nintendo Wifi Connection play.

Summary & Score
Big Brain Academy is great if you want a game you can play with friends or family but single player isn’t all that fun. And with limited online play there isn’t much you can do alone.

Score: 5.5/10
