Chessmaster Takes on the DS

Is it time to pin the queen already? Seems so because Ubisoft just announced Chessmaster: The Art of Learning for the Nintendo DS which should be due out in October.

The Art of Learning is flooded with content and modes that’ll actually make the activity enjoyable (just kidding). And as Tony Hawk did to skateboarding, Joshua Watzkin did to Chessmaster. This child prodigy-turned-International master of the sport will be your tutorial coach, giving you step by step instructions on the fundamentals and techniques of chess. We can concur that The Art of Learning could give us beneficial skills and knowledge to play in the real world.

As for modes, you can start of with the typical single player campaign or you can face off against a buddy via wireless local play. Other modes including Dark Chess (invisible opponent), Extinction Chess (eliminate all the opponent’s pieces) and Losing Chess (uh…you have to lose). There are some mini game compilations in The Art of Learning as well such as a Minesweeper-esque game, Breaking the Lines (knight must capture all pawns) and Fork my Fruit (chess pieces must fork fruit of the same type).

Get your game on in October!
