Yet more classic games are hitting the Virtual Console this week, including a puzzle, pool, pinball and RPG. This isn’t no ordinary RPG however; it’s Breath of Fire II!
NES (500 Points)
- Lunar Pool
SNES (800 Points)
- Breath of Fire II
- Kirby’s Ghost Trap
TurboGrafx (600 Points)
- Devil’s Crush
Here’s what Nintendo has to say about each title:
Kirby’s Ghost Trap – battle of the blobs!
Kirby’s Ghost Trap is a high-speed puzzle game that is sure to send shivers down your spine!
Face off against famous Kirby enemies by forming chain reactions from the differently-coloured Blobs that rain down the screen. Each chain reaction you create sends ghosts to scupper your opponent!
This Super Nintendo classic from 1995 features 16 fast-paced stages, four difficulty levels and a two-player mode.
Breath of Fire II lights up Virtual Console
Breath of Fire II is a tale of friendships, rivalries, dragons and demons that originally set the Super Nintendo alight in 1996 – and now comes to Virtual Console!
From its opening flashback scene to the gripping finale, this RPG classic will sweep you along with its story of dragon warrior Ryu and his brave band of followers on a quest to destroy a world-threatening demon.
Pinball wizardry in Devil’s Crush
The follow-up to Alien Crush (also available on Virtual Console), Devil’s Crush takes video game pinball to an even higher level. Set on a living pinball table, Devil’s Crush challenges you to destroy monsters, break spells and return light to a cursed world – all through your ball-blasting skills.
This Turbografx classic features an even bigger table than Alien Crush, more bonus games, a two-player mode and a save system that allows you to come back to the action at any time.
Lunar Pool brings a new spin to the sport
Lunar Pool, out now on Virtual Console, is a pool game with a difference. Instead of using a standard rectangular table, this NES game features 30 differently-shaped tables and adjustable friction.
This futuristic spin on the classic sport also includes three game modes: single-player, versus a friend and versus the computer.
Don’t forget to check back later in the week when we’ll have our impressions of these new Virtual Console releases in our Virtual Console Archive.
