While reading through a copy of trade magazine MCV, I came across a full page spread advertising Data Design Interactive, a games design company based in the UK. After taking a quick glance at their colourful advert, it struck me that the Wii had finally acquired it’s very own budget games developer.
Data Design Interactive are a relatively new company dedicated to making good quality games for the Wii and DS platforms. Recently, they announced that they would be developing over 26 original titles to the Wii with many hitting shelves before the year is out.
Although many budget titles find it hard to sell with the wealth of blockbuster titles to compete with, Data Design Interactive have a large amount of interesting and fun looking games up their sleeves.
The most intriguing of these games has to be ‘Ninjabread Man’, a 3d platforming game with motion controls staring a ass-kicking gingerbread-ninja. Take a peek at the trailer below.
Although I have been unable to find any of these games at retail yet, you can presume that the many titles planned for release by DDI will be a great, and cheap pleasure to play. I have always felt that budget titles help a console succeed by providing audiences of all ages and backgrounds to play games on a specific platform. This budget range on the Wii will help Nintendo greatly by introducing a massive library of titles at different pricepoints.
Data Design Interactive are planning on releasing the following games for the Wii this year; Monster Trux Offroad, Hamster Heroes, Ninjabread Man, Trixie In Toyland, Anubis II, Action Girlz Racing, Mini Desktop Racing, Myth Makers - Orbs Of Doom, Myth Makers - SuperKart GP, London Taxi Rushour, Billy Wizard, Earache Extreme Metal Racing, Rock N Roll Adventure.
