Bowser is at it again, but this time wafer thin, and apparently, invincible from the powers of the Star Rod which he pilfered from Star Haven. Now Mario has to rescue the seven star spirits and stop Bowser.
If there is anything about this game, it is that the graphics are unique. It blends the three dimensional world with an interesting art style using two dimensional characters, hence the term “Paper” in the title. While its art and appearance may lend it to look more appealing to children, if you can see past that and played it anyway, then you would have done yourself a favor.
It’s excellent quality, the sound. Don’t expect stuff like Zelda, Paper Mario’s soundtrack is tailored to fit with it’s unique art. Should you not like the sound of Mario’s hammer, as you’ll be hearing it a lot, you can change it to different noises with items you find along the way.
This game is simple to play, turn based battle, timing button presses. Of course, if it was that simple, the game would be no fun at all. There are a variety of enemies that require some strategy, even with just two basic moves, hammer and jump, there are a multitude of attacks at your disposal, granted by equipping badges, limited by badgepoints. On top of which, you will gain eight allies in your journey, each bringing to the table their own different skills. In the end, this will test your mettle to the limit, and offer some 50 hours of gameplay.
I deem this a necessary addition to anyone’s VC collection. Get Downloading
