It has been reported that a few Wii consoles have been overheating, due to the span of time the WiiConnect24 has been left on. The heat is dangerous to the system, causing the GPU to become damaged.

If your system starts to have these problems, contact your Nintendo Service Provider. But to stay on the safe side, you can turn off the WiiConnect24 right from your console.
