Nintendo has sure gotten itself a reputation for influencing other companies with devices that share the same innovation as the Wii and DS systems. Logitech has jumped onto the bandwagon by launching a new motion-sensing mouse.
MX Air Mouse uses the Freespace motion control, combining MEMS (microelectromechanical sensors), DSP (digital signal processing) and RF technology to control the onscreen cursor. While it does sound like a complicated mess to perform a simple task, the MX Air Mouse is designed for responsive and smooth navigation without the constraints of a regular mouse device.
The interface of the mouse is activated with in-air gestures, seeking intentional and unintentional hand movements. The scroll wheel has also been replaced, so now you can use your fingers in a puppeteer fashion. Press a command button (volume, cursor, etc) on the mouse, and go crazy with your fingers. The rechargeable mouse uses Logitech 2.4 GHz Digital Cordless technology, so the mouse can be used up to 30ft away from the computer.
The Logitech MX Air Mouse will be available in the U.S. and Europe in early August for the price of $149.99 (U.S.) and £99 (UK).
