While Electronic Arts is releasing FIFA 2008 for the Nintendo systems, Konami Digital Entertament has announced Pro Evolution Soccer 08 for the DS, along with a PS3, Xbox 360, PC DVD, Playstation 2 and PSP adaption.
Konami plans to recreate the gameplay by using Teamvision, an intuitive A.I system that promises counter-interpretation of the player’s style of play. The NPCs will learn to adapt strategies to overcome your approach. Every game mechanics revolves around this system such as on-field play and ball control.
“We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next,” commented Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka, creator of the series and Producer of PES 2008. “With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait.”
You can read the press release on GoNintendo. Expect Pro Evolution Soccer 08 this coming fall. A Wii version wasn’t mentioned, so it’s safe to say its been ruled out.
