Wii Causes Tendonitis

In the latest of Wii-related injuries, the New England Journal of Medicine has the first-hand account on describing a new injury caused by using the Wii console. Tendonitis, a painful disorder of the tendon, has a significant spread with Wii-related activities.

“It can certainly can cause an overuse type of inflammatory problem with those muscle specific groups that are used for that activity.”said Dr. Stephen Swirsky, orthopedic surgeon at Miami Children’s Hospital.

“I think as the use of this equipment becomes more widespread, we’ll probably end up seeing a little bit more in the office,” Dr. Swirsky said.

Tendoitis causes serious aches and stiffness to the tendons in effect. Continuing similar activities as above will result in more grevious ramifications. So be careful seniors and people alike!

Well so does playing any sport, especially one like Tennis. This medical finding is surely a good thing, shows it’s keeping people active and the unfit ones are getting injuries.
