Nintendo has had a rough past releasing game peripherals that showed flaws beyond our imagination, such as the Power Glove and Super Scope. However, Nintendo plans to change it’s reputation by releasing an all-new DS game called Slide Adventure Magkid. And this game has brought a new meaning to innovation.

The gist of how the game works can be said using a new DS attachment: Slide Controller. In Slide Adventure, you control Magkid, who will acquire special powers by using his ability to attach himself to enemies, something that can be imagine as a Kirby influence.

The Slide Controller can be fitted onto the DS using the GBA port, so it’s directly facing a flat surface. When let your DS glide across a smooth flat surface, that movement will enable Magkid to move. It’s a little akward, but knowing Nintendo, this could shine some potential on future titles.

A Japanese release date has been confirmed for August 2. Europe and America has yet to have an announcement.
