Battle Lode Runner, for the longest time, was a Japan exclusive game. Thanks to the awesome power of the Virtual Console, the rest of the world is able to play this. Play through puzzle or enjoy a 5-player free for all.

It looks quite similar to Bomberman 93 in terms of graphics, as well as the design of the Runners. The sprites are bright, with a fairly clean background so it isn’t hard on the eyes.

The game has pretty simple music, nothing fancy, but a bit bland. Other things like digging sounds and item collecting are thankfully done without any piercing noises

While the concept of play is sound, the controls seem to be a bit buggy, with the runner not digging when he should. Other than that they work pretty well. This game also is lacking unless you can muster enough people for a 5-player game.

If you have enough people around and are decked with controllers, then download this, otherwise don’t.
