On a quest to save half of the moon from the Evil King Drool, Bonk sets out with nothing but his gigantic forehead to defend himself with.
Bonk’s Revenge is a sequel to Bonk’s Adventure which was available on the Virtual Console from day one. The game operates much like your average platformer at the time. Back in 1991 platforming games were all the rage and every self respected games developer felt the need to jump on the bandwagon. Obviously you have to take the rubbish with the good and luckily, Bonk’s Revenge is definitely one of the good games to come from the period.
The game is pretty much what you would expect, you jump and bash your way through a vast selection of levels defeating enemies and general bad guys along the way.
I’d like to say that Bonk’s Revenge has some sort of twist to it but I believe that is what makes it as memorable as it is. With numerous amounts of power ups and ways to jump all over levels and enemies, the game is very typical of the platforming genre and is definitely one of the most memorable games for the console due to its compliance with the cliché conventions it helped to develop.
